ICAP opens Washington, D.C. Government Relations office

New York, 1 November 2011 – ICAP Plc (IAP.L), the world’s leading interdealer broker, announced today that it has officially opened its Government Relations office in Washington, D.C.  The office is located at 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E., and headed by Patrick McCarty, Managing Director of ICAP Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs in the United States.   

“We’re very happy to open our office in Washington, D.C., which gives us a prime location for managing and executing our U.S. government affairs programs,” said Mr. McCarty.  “Through our leading hybrid and electronic trading platforms and post-trade services, ICAP has grown to become an important part of the architecture and infrastructure of the financial markets.  The establishment of a full-time Washington presence will further our efforts to serve as a knowledgeable and constructive voice in Washington as major regulatory initiatives such as the Dodd-Frank Act are considered and implemented.” 
 
ICAP is an Interdealer Broker which serves the wholesale financial markets and also a primary SEF applicant.  The Group announced the appointment of Mr. McCarty in April 2011.  He has over 25 years experience working on financial services issues in the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, various regulatory agencies, trade groups and private sector entities in Washington, D.C., and New York, N.Y.
