ICAP sponsors 4,300 litres of milk to 120 pre-schoolers on financial assistance scheme in Whampoa

Donation of a year’s supply of milk ensures nourishment in the formative and developmental years in these children

Singapore, 15 October 2016 – ICAP plc (IAP.L), a leading markets operator and provider of post trade risk mitigation and information services, announces that its Singapore office will be sponsoring 4,300 litres of milk in support of Kellogg’s signature cause, Breakfasts for Better Days®, an ongoing charitable campaign that focuses on global hunger relief, extended from a firm belief that every child deserves to start the day with the power of breakfast.

This initiative marks the coming together of two multinational companies for a one-year community outreach programme targeted at the grassroots level. It is also held in conjunction with the World Food Day Awareness Programme.

Commemorated yearly on October 16, World Food Day is a global movement aimed at fighting poverty and hunger. In support of this, the launch of the Breakfasts for Better Days® Programme for Pre-Schoolers will provide pre-schoolers on financial assistance scheme with a year’s supply of cereal sponsored by Kellogg’s. ICAP Singapore is participating in this campaign as the milk sponsor. The programme will commence on January 2017 and distribution of items will be done on a monthly basis.

A total of 22 representatives from ICAP Singapore, including the senior leadership team, employees, and their family members were hands-on at the launch event. ICAP Singapore, together with Kellogg’s Singapore, presented mock-up cheques to the Senior Minister of State (Prime Minister’s Office) and Grassroots Adviser for Whampoa, Mr. Heng Chee How, who was present to grace the launch.

Mr. Danny Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of ICAP Singapore, said: “World Food Day is a timely reminder for us to make a positive difference to those who are economically disadvantaged and find it a challenge to have meals on their table, especially young children who are in need of essential nutrients in their formative and developmental years.

“A healthy breakfast is important for a child’s physical and mental development, and we are heartened to know that our sponsorship will ensure that these children have the opportunity to benefit from a healthy breakfast growing up. This is one of the few activities ICAP supports in the lead up to our annual Charity Day, which will take place on 7 December 2016. We will continue to engage in charitable work with the community, and are grateful to have the continued support of our employees and customers.”
